Evaluation on unit 5

Evaluation

This unit has involved a lot of writing, and researching. It has been really useful to me, as I have learned new computer skills and how to make a blog. We are making our own portfolio, the unit has covered a lot of interview techniques, good and bad points including how to sit and speak.
Within this unit we have learned new computer techniques (working on blogs) we have also covered making our own portfolios. Deciding and discussing good and bad interview points. Now I have the ability to go in to an interview and speak my mind about the work I have done and be confident when I’m doing it.

The thing that has helped me most within this unit is making the blog. The blog has helped me a lot in my preparation for my portfolio, as it had some work from home that I had done and some work from my sketchbook, so this made my blog a lot stronger and showed that I have done work outside of college. Also the interview techniques helped me too. I know what I should do and what I shouldn’t.

Understanding and preparing a portfolio during this unit was difficult at the beginning because I had never done a portfolio before, or even ever heard the word. Now that I understand what a portfolio is, I can now see how it can really help me in the future if I keep adding to it. You can put all your own work on, and put as much of it on as you want. For me I tend to put my best work on my blog, as I feel it would look a little messy and unorganized if I had all of my bad drawing on. If you explain why/how/when about your photos whilst you are uploading them, it saves you a lot of explaining when it comes to the interview, My opinion now is so much better than my first. I really like the idea of having a portfolio because it can really get you in to places you want.

When our tutor told us about the unit and having to make a portfolio, I was really worried about it because I didn’t know how to make one. After making a blog instead of a papered portfolio, I found it really interesting and helpful. I could put my work in to sections easily and categorise them the way I wanted, so my home -work was easy to find and not mixed in with my college work. So then people who viewed my blog could see where my college work was, and where my work from home was. It’s much simpler. It would be very difficult to find what you’re looking for if all of the work was on one page. Making a blog is now fairly easy, and it looks very well presented. Although we made a blog, I still don’t fully understand how to make a traditional portfolio, so learning this would be interesting to know too.
